engage in projects in furtherance of the IDPF's purpose and
mission. Working Groups are the only groups in the IDPF with the authority
to produce official IDPF documents such as specifications and process documents
(such as the policies and procedures, position papers, best practices etc.). For

Special Interest Groups (SIG) are also a
subset of IDPF Members who engage in dialogue and discussion on issues that
pertain to the electronic publishing industry. Special Interest Groups cannot
produce any official output documents in the IDPF. However, SIGs can produce
Informational Documents. These
are documents that a SIG feels are relevant to the members of the IDPF. The
documents typically include white papers, commentaries, or other relevant
documents.
