Dear IDPF Members,
A self-nomination period is
now open for an election to fill eight IDPF Board of
Director positions including the role of IDPF
President. The eight slots will fill all board seats
that have reached, or are nearing, their end of
term. Elected directors will serve two-year tenures.
All IDPF members in good standing (current on
membership dues) may run for the Board.
The nomination period will begin now and end
on Friday December 4th at 2400 eastern.
The position of IDPF President
constitutes one of the open Board Seats and will be
voted upon at the same time as Board Election. The
remaining seven seats will be awarded to top seven
vote getters. Members choosing to run for role of
President will be included in the election for open
Board Seats unless they specifically request
otherwise. To self-nominate for an open Board Seat
you need only send in your candidate statement.
Please indicate at time of self-nomination if you
wish to run for IDPF President as well.
Representatives of IDPF
Members may self-nominate by emailing a request
to Michael Smith at
msmith@idpf.org.
Typically, a candidate would include statements
of reasons for running for the position, brief
biographies and general vision or ideas for the
IDPF. The nominations will be posted on the IDPF
website for all IDPF members to view after
eligibility has been verified.
Being a Board member of
the IDPF requires a commitment in terms of
responsibility and time. The Board currently
meets twice a month in a teleconference call and
usually meets once a year in a face-to-face
meeting. Time commitment costs and expenses are
not reimbursed. Board members should be leaders
in their companies or organizations and,
importantly, should have a clear understanding
of the digital publishing/eBook industries as
well as related technologies. Board members are
closely involved in the specification output
process so knowledge of adopted technologies is
a plus.
After the nomination
period, the election for the Board of Director
positions, including IDPF President will be held
by remote vote (email vote) beginning on
Thursday December 10th and will end on Thursday
December 17th at 2400 eastern.
Election results will be announced on
December 18, 2009.
