Intellectual Property Policy Intermediate Notice Period for OPS 2.0 - 1/2007

Dear IDPF Members,

This is a formal notice regarding Intellectual Property Claims as it relates to the Open Publication Structure (OPS) 2.0 and Open Packaging Format (OPF) 2.0 specifications recently released as Informational Documents.

On Thursday, December 14th, 2006, the Open eBook Publication Structure (OeBPS) Working Group voted to call for an Intermediate Notice Period as per the IDPF Intellectual Property Rights ("IPR") Policy. The Working Group has concluded that the Review Documentation satisfies the Objective Review Period Criteria as defined in the IPR Policy. The Intermediate Notice Period will begin today, January 3rd, 2007 and last for 45 days ending on February 19, 2007.

Pursuant to the IDPF IPR Policy, members are required to disclose any Essential Claims and provide a Licensing Statement based on the Open Publication Structure (OPS) 2.0 and Open Packaging Format (OPF) 2.0 specifications. To fulfill your obligations, please fill out the attached IP Disclosure Form and return to IDPF Executive Director, Nick Bogaty, by the end of the Intermediate Notice Period. Please note, if do not have have any Essential Claims on the OPS 2.0 and OPF 2.0 documents, you do not need to reply to this notice.
